EDGE3 Imaging Payload

You may remember the writeup that we did about the HackHD camera on EDGE2... we received a free camera from www.hackhd.com for sharing that video, so we upped the ante this time, and included both cameras (the original and the new one) on EDGE3 - one pointed at the horizon, one pointed up.  The results, we hope you'll agree, are spectacular - all payload video below was shot with one of the two HackHD cameras, and you should watch it in 1080p if you can:

We also upgraded our CHDK camera to the Canon A1200, a 12.1 MP pocket point-and-shoot camera.  It worked with the CHDK script that we posted for EDGE2, but we noticed that the autofocus was not as reliable or as snappy as the A480; also, some tweaking was required to ensure that the backlight on the screen actually shut off between pictures.  Overall, though, we're pleased to have the extra resolution.
